Transmedia storytelling by the BBC

As the BBC is one of the biggest media distributors on a global scale, I thought it would be a good idea to see what they say about transmedia storytelling.

The most important point I got from this article posted by the BBC on their website is that it is important to create entry points with each platform. It's important that each product on each platform can present itself as an entry point. This is because there will be an audience for the story on each platform from the original source text- in my case, Animal Farm.

Each platform presenting itself as an entry point is also a positive aspect, because not only does each product on each platform have a pre-established audience; but also, each platform that the story is told on can also bring in a whole new audience. With this in mind, if I were to create a podcast based on Animal Farm, in theory, I would have the pre-established audience of Animal Farm. But, I would also be able to bring in fans of podcasts as well.

From what I have researched, both independently and from the module reading list; transmedia storytelling isn't just about presenting and telling a story. Instead, transmedia storytelling also presents the possibility of being able to gain a whole new audience who might enjoy the story as it is presented in a way that they can enjoy.
